چکیده
Steel plate shear walls usually do not satisfy the strong-column weak-beam design criteria, leading to larger column sections. On other hand, rigid frame structures are typically constructed in low-rise mid-rise buildings built locations prone strong earthquakes due their high flexibility and cost-effective solutions. Overcoming these restrictions SPSW system, this paper is dedicated employing a semi-rigid connection that dissipates energy well reduces forces applied structure. By using an adjacent span SPSW, actual flexural capacity of beam end decreases and, subsequently, improves performance structure terms criteria. Thereupon, impact connections on steel frames with SPSWs as sideway resisting system can be assessed by implementing numerical study. In paper, new methodology for modelling joints used considering five different moment capacities. Moreover, influence three circular diameters behavior perforated was investigated. To fulfil purposes, nonlinear dynamic analysis conducted assess reliability 5-, 10-, 15-story resisted subjected ground motion records. A total 45 were modelled obtained results compared reference benchmarks. The outcomes studies show good agreement building code requirements. addition, reliable under seismic loads evaluated. According parametric study, presumed allowable drift leads obtaining optimum each model illustrates applicability structural consisting simultaneously.

TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION OF PERFORATED STEEL PLATE SHEAR WALLS WITH THICK PLATE IN SIMPLE FRAMES
In this paper, topology optimization (TO) is applied to determine the form, size and location of holes for the special form of perforated steel plate shear wall (PSPSW). The proposed model is based on the recently presented particular form of PSPSW that is called the ring-shaped steel plate shear wall. The strain energy is selected as the objective function in the optimization. Simple Isotropic...

many old damaged and undamaged building structures do not meet the criteria of modern seismic design codes. such structures need to be seismically enhanced. the main objective of this paper is to propose and validate the effectiveness of an upgrade scheme for non-seismic buildings using steel plate shear walls (spsw). the upgrade is carried out considering a probability-based drift-based criter...
متن کاملSeismic Behavior of Intermediate Beams in Steel Plate Shear Walls
This paper presents some preliminary results of an ongoing research whose objective is to investigate the seismic behavior of intermediate beams (i.e., the beams other than those at the roof and foundation levels) in multi-story steel plate shear walls (SPSWs). Of primary interest is the determination of the strength level needed to avoid the formation of in-span plastic hinges, a relevant prac...

Applied studies addressing semi-rigid connections have been limited. Scant information exists in regulations except little brief information. Therefore, this research analyzes the behavior of three-dimensional steel frames and semi-rigid connections based on beam-column method and non-linear dynamic analysis. Stability functions and geometric stiffness matrix were used to study the non-linear g...
